Buying Diamond Jewellery is not an easy task. A lot of factors come into consideration when you are out looking for your best jewels. If we keep the budget aside, we have the design preference, preference for a particular cut or style, the overall look of the piece, the choice of metal or stone and so on. More often than not , we usually go with a pre-set preference for the metal and the stones and often come back with the pieces that fits the colour preference in our mind.

What we often miss to consider is what colours actually look good on us. This depends a lot on our personal colouring, which includes our eye colour, hair colour, skin colour and most importantly, our skin tone.

Skin tone is often used interchangeably with skin colour by laymen. While your skin colour could be fair, light, medium, wheatish or dark; you skin tone is often warm, cool or neutral with any skin colour. While your skin colour may change with time, the undertone usually remains the same. This leads to the most significant question or how to identify your skin tone?

While the skin colour is evident, understanding skin tone could be a bit tricky. One can identify the skin tone in following ways-
  • Check the colour of veins in your wrist. Blue veins are for cool tone and green veins for warm tone.
  • Keep a piece of golden paper and silver paper near your face, check which one brighten up your face. If it is gold, then warm tone and silver would mean cool tone. If both look good, it would be neutral tone.
Once you know your skin tone, it is easy to look for jewellery. Some tips for jewellery selection as per your skin tone are given below-
